On Sunday, December 18, 2016, the Charlottesville Festival of Cultures will partner with Ten Thousand Villages during its Community Shopping Event, from which a portion of sales between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. will be donated to the Festival. The Festival of Cultures is an annual community event that celebrates the area’s linguistic and cultural diversity. The day features family-friendly international music and dance performances, cultural exhibits, hands-on activities for kids, artisan crafts, plus delicious ethnic food for sale. The 2017 Festival will be held on Saturday, May 13 at Lee Park in downtown Charlottesville. Currently Ten Thousand Villages works with more than 60,000 artisans. The Festival of Cultures is organized by the Charlottesville City Schools Adult Learning Center with the support of many other individuals and organizations that recognize the importance of building bridges between new Americans and established residents. According to Festival Coordinator Zakira Beasley, “Once again, we are delighted to partner with Ten Thousand Villages, whose multicultural appreciation closely reflects our own.” |
