On Sunday, December 15, 2019, the Charlottesville Festival of Cultures will partner with Ten Thousand Villages for Community Shopping Event when a portion of sales between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. will be donated to the Festival.

The Festival of Cultures is an annual community event that celebrates the area’s linguistic and cultural diversity. The day features family-friendly international music and dance performances, cultural exhibits, hands-on activities for kids, artisan crafts, and ethnic food. The 2020 Festival of Cultures will be held on Saturday, May 9 at Washington Park on Preston Avenue in Charlottesville.

Ten Thousand Villages, located on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, is a not-for-profit fair trade retailer, providing a marketplace for hand-crafted products made by people in marginalized areas of the world. Currently, Ten Thousand Villages works with more than 60,000 artisans.

The Festival of Cultures is organized by TJACE/PVCC with the support of many other individuals and organizations that recognize the importance of building bridges between new Americans and established residents. According to Festival Coordinator Natalie Detert, “Once again, we are delighted to partner with Ten Thousand Villages, whose multicultural appreciationand commitment to community closely reflects our own.”
